Chaudiere Lodge:
Five Star Food and Service in the Northern Wilderness |
|
|
|
Jerry Noel, Chaudiere's owner and graduate of Cornell University's
School of Hotel Administration and Restaurant
Management will assist you in planning your
vacation, from arrival to departure. Jerry will
attend to every detail whether it's procuring
that special beverage to be in your cottage's
refrigerator on arrival, arranging a car from
the airport at 10pm, accommodating special
dietary requirements, or arranging professional
guides for the day. Attention to detail, without
forgetting that you are fishing in Canada, is
what Chaudiere does best. Please feel free to
call and discuss any aspect of your Canadian
vacation. |

The
Main Lodge and Dining Room |
|
| |
|
Many lodges boast of delicious home cooking but
quite frankly if that is really what you wanted
you could be getting that at home. Our kitchen
staff is professional. Professional training,
professional preparation, and professional
sanitation. At Chaudiere Lodge we don't buy
steaks, we buy the entire Prime Beef loin and
trim and cut our own steaks to 1½" thick. Salads
aren't iceberg lettuce with dressing from a
gallon jug, our salads are Bacon wrapped Prawns
on field greens with a Roasted Garlic
Vinaigrette. Dessert isn't only ice cream. Our
desserts are Chocolate Crème Broulée or
Strawberry Mousse. Entrees include Crown Roast
of Pork with Wild Rice, Fennel, and Sausage
Stuffing or Baked Rainbow Trout with Shrimp
Stuffing or Grilled Chicken Breast with Tarragon
Cream Sauce. Dinner is always a four-course
meal.
To start the day right we begin with omelets
made to order in the Dining Room and the toast
is topped with American Spoon preserves, the
finest made anywhere. We also serve bacon,
sausage, English muffins, fruit trays, pancakes
and French toast with pure maple syrup.
Lunch is either served in the dining room or we will prepare a
hearty box lunch if you want to stay out all day
including fried chicken, freshly roasted sliced
turkey breast (we cook ours on a 37" Webber
charcoal grill), grilled pork tenderloin
sandwiches on egg buns with Dijon mustard or
corned beef with home made with fresh rye bread. |

|
Exploring the many islands, countless bays and
secluded inlets is an adventure for newcomers
and experienced fishers alike.
There are wonderful opportunities for
photography while staying at Chaudiere Lodge.
Take a canoe and explore the spectacular French
River. There is abundant wildlife: loons,
beaver, mink, otter, moose, deer, and a variety
of birds. |

What
to Bring |
|
|
|
| |
|
Fishing Equipment and your favorite lures. We
do have equipment available for a fee but
most guests feel more comfortable with
their own gear. Throughout the season we usually have a
good supply of minnows, worms and leeches.
We also have a good supply of nets and coolers,
if you are going after Muskie, do bring a
large net. All boats are equipped with depthfinders
and electric bilge pumps.
Clothing and Rain gear. You may not go out
intentionally in the rain but if you get caught
out there on the water, the ride back to the
lodge can be a little chilly. Other clothing
should include layers and windbreaker. Summer
temperatures are from the mid-60's to the high
80's.
If you want to haul in mountains of soft drinks
and snacks, do so. All cottages are supplied
with refrigerators and soft drinks and after
three meals a day of Chaudiere food most guests
simply wind up taking home the boxes of snacks
they brought with them. If you want it, bring
it, but most guests find it unnecessary. We will
provide snacks if you need them. |
