A True North Experience

Chaudière Lodge is located on an island in Ontario’s legendary Upper French River, and it is open from the third Saturday in May to the third Saturday in October. Just 4 1/2 hours north of Toronto, this five star resort is truly one of the closest near north experiences available to the GTA. The Upper French River and Lake Nipissing offer Chaudière’s guests two very different experiences. The French is sheltered providing countless bays, narrows, islands and inlets perfect for canoeing, photography and fishing. Nipissing and the mouth of the French offer an extremely large body of water where the fishing is excellent. It is always possible to get out on the water from Chaudière.

Chaudière Lodge is a 17-acre, Five Star resort with 14 cottages spread over ½ a mile of water front. The Main Lodge houses a Dining Room, professionally-equipped commercial kitchen and lounge where guitars hang on the wall waiting to be played along with a couple of telescopes ready to look into a night sky free of light pollution and full of the northern lights, if we are lucky.

At Chaudière Lodge you can experience world-class fishing, canoeing, kayaking, photography and much more. Located in one of the most dynamic ecosystems the north has to offer, whether you come to relax with the family or party with friends, our guarantee to you is this: you will leave with new friends, unforgettable memories and an addiction that only a return trip will quench. We can only entertain a maximum of 44 guests at a time, so take that step and book your adventure today.

“The French River, and especially the Chaudière Lodge, has become an area that is very close to my heart, and I plan on continuing our annual trips as long as I live. I have travelled all over the world, from rain forests to tropical paradises for scuba diving, and I have never seen a place more beautiful than The Upper French.” —Patrick Tryon
“The French River is not an ordinary river, it is a river that just provides one magnificent view after another on its entire length. You will enjoy beautiful sunsets while listening to the call of the Loons and not knowing what type of monster fish may give you the thrill of a lifetime. If you are looking for a fishing lodge to get away from the daily demands and associated stresses, Chaudière Lodge with its great food and fantastic cabins gives you that and more.” —L.
